Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I schedule a tour and how long do tours last?

Feel free to schedule a tour online under the Admissions tab. Tours are conducted in the morning hours so
prospective families can see students engaged in activities and see if our school is the right fit. Tours are
typically 30 minutes in length and will consist of a classroom tour and information session.

  • When are applications accepted?

Applications are accepted year-round. If the school is fully enrolled, the application will go into the wait pool to
wait for available space in the program.

  • When is the admission period for new students? Can new students start at any time?

We have a rolling admission system, which means that we enroll new students as vacancies occur throughout the school
year. New students can start anytime during year as long as an opening occurs for them.

  • What is the student to teacher ratio?

Creative Montessori and Bambini Montessori maintain a ratio of one teacher to 7 students. However, there are times
when the ratio is as low as one teacher to 5 or 6 students.

  • Do the Little Chefs cooking activities really involve the students and to what extent?

Our Little Chefs cooking activities really do involve all of the students and is a great way to introduce different
cultures, a variety of healthy foods, math, language, and fine motor skills into the curriculum. A great example is
when we make apple pie in autumn. Teachers will wash and pre-cut the apples into large wedges beforehand, and the
students will use plastic knives to cut them into small slices or dice them (depending on each child’s ability and
skills). Then the students will measure the flour, butter, sugar, and water and mix it into the apples. The next
step is for the students to make the dough by measuring and mixing all of the ingredients together and knead it
until it is well combined. Placing the dough on the baking dish may be tough so teachers will provide assistance
with that step. Lastly, the cooking/baking part of any cooking activity will be completed by the teachers. The very
end is always the most fascinating part for all of our students; they get to try out what they have worked so hard
for. Every Little Chefs cooking activity is fun-filled!

  • What form of communication do you have with parents about the student’s development progress?

There are many modes of communication between teachers and parents. Daily communication during drop-off and pick-up
times, phone calls, emails, and appointments to meet together, and newsletters are all available. Additionally we
have two parent-teacher conferences each year so teachers and parents can meet to talk about each child’s progress,
interests, strengths, and goals for the school year.

  • How often do the children go outside of the school other than going to the school yard?

We go on weekly nature walks around the neighborhood or go to a nearby playground. We also go to nearby markets to
pick out items for our Little Chefs cooking activities with the students. Students enjoy seeing and feeling how the
weather changes or seeing different people and things in our neighborhood.

  • How often are field trips and where do the children go?

We have quarterly field trips, so each year we will have four field trips. Field trips range from reptiles and farm
animals coming to our school to visits to museums such as CuriOdyssey Museum, Academy of Sciences, Hiller Aviation
    Museum, and so forth.

  • How are parents able to get involved with school activities?

Parents are more than welcome to join us for our celebrations and events throughout the year, as well as come along
on field trips. Many parents also make presentations in the school about certain topics such as their occupation and
what they do for work, special holidays that they celebrate at home, birthday celebrations, cultural foods that they
make for traditional holidays and so forth. Teachers and students are all eager to have them join the fun in the
    classroom.
